Welcome to Science and Medical Writers!

Global Leader in Life Science Writing!

Science and Medical Writers (SMW) is a new-frontier science writing service solely focused on Life and Biomedical sciences; the only organization that helps basic science research and preclinical studies conducted at academic institutions. We are dedicated to assisting with preparing federal grants (e.g., R01, R21, P01), foundation grants, and manuscripts and review articles for high-impact international journals. If you are a PhD/MD researcher, regularly conduct laboratory research at an academic institution or biotech/pharma, and compete for federal grants to support your research and publish your findings in high-quality life science journals, we are godsent for you. With helping laboratory researchers in mind, SMW has assembled an elite class of science writers with expertise in many areas of biomedical science. The panel of veteran experts comes with a wealth of experience serving in national study sections and editorial boards of international journals.  They will assist you like your peer, read your draft grants and manuscripts, critically evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of your science, give insightful comments, offer new perspectives, and guide you to improve your science. Needless to say, we are one-of-a-kind. If this is exciting for you, we have one more: we will also rewrite your draft documents line-by-line and transform them into outstanding grant proposals and stellar manuscripts.

How We Work

When we receive your grant proposal or manuscript, we will read it thoroughly and critically evaluate the scientific content as a reviewer at a study section would do. We will guide you to bring it up to par with outstanding grants and journal articles. We may advise on your science, hypothesis, whether your (preliminary) data adequately support your hypothesis, your knowledge base, rationale, and the rigor of the experimental strategy. We may make suggestions on structural organization, logical flow, and scientific presentation. We may point out any errors and contradictions, and whether it keeps a tight focus on the said goals. Then, with your input, we will rewrite the entire document with power and clarity. We will make your science stand out, highlighting its strength, its ability to close existing knowledge gaps, and, more importantly, how it improves human health. In sum, we make sure the proposal/manuscript is easy to read, logically flows, and the core science remains tightly focused, poignant, and provocative, aiming to captivate the reviewers and win their enthusiastic support.

How to Submit Grant Proposals and Manuscripts

Please attach your document to an email and send it to writers@scienceandmedicalwriters.com

(If the document size is larger than 15 MB, please break the file into two or more email attachments. Alternatively, use an online file transfer, e.g., Dropbox).

While sending, please give us only the main body, viz., abstract, introduction, significance, research design, figure legends, results, and discussion.  References, form pages, and biographical sketches are optional and will increase costs.  You may withhold figures and tables for confidentiality reasons; however, providing them may help us assess the contents better.

Turnaround: Our standard turnaround for an R01-type grant proposal or full-length manuscript is 10 to 14 days. We also offer an optional second round of editing to recheck your final document with no additional cost, which would take about two to three days. We would appreciate it if you could inform us in advance, as this will help us keep a slot open because we are usually very busy close to the federal grant submission deadlines.

Confidentiality policy: SMW has a strict confidentiality policy in place.  At SMW, we value our clients’ hard work and respect their confidentiality with utmost sincerity. We safeguard client data and proprietary information. We do not disclose their names or their work to anyone under any circumstances. Those who would like to protect their data, even from the editors at SMW, are encouraged to remove them (e.g., figures and tables) from the document and send only the text part to SMW.  If you are still worried about the confidentiality of your data and proprietary materials, you may ask us to execute a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA). We will be happy to sign your legally binding NDA.
